Kept — Privacy Policy

Last updated 26 July 2026

Where your data lives

The things you add to Kept — name, price, purchase date, use history, notes, serial numbers, and photos of items and receipts — are stored in your own account in Google Cloud Firestore and Firebase Storage (Google LLC), under a folder keyed to your user id. Security rules make that folder unreadable to anyone else. The copy held on your device is a cache, so the app keeps working without a connection.

Your account

Every installation is given an anonymous identifier so your data has somewhere to live. If you sign in with Apple, Google or an email address, Firebase Authentication stores that email address, a user id, and your name if you choose to share it. Signing in attaches everything you added beforehand to that account, so nothing is lost. You are never asked for personal information the app does not need.

Purchases

Purchases are processed by the App Store. Subscription status is tracked by RevenueCat, Inc., which receives an anonymous customer id (or your account id if you have one) and App Store receipt data. No information about the things you own is ever sent to RevenueCat.

AI features

When you use photo scanning, Ask Kept or the sell card, the relevant slice of data — the photo you point the scanner at, or a compact summary of your things (name, price, use count, estimated value) — passes through our own server to OpenAI purely to produce that answer. Receipt photos, notes and serial numbers are not sent beyond what you explicitly scan. This data is not used to train models, and we do not retain it.

No analytics, no advertising

Kept contains no analytics, tracking, profiling or advertising SDKs. We do not build a profile of you, we do not sell data, and we do not share it with data brokers.

Notifications

Warranty, return-window and unused-item reminders are scheduled locally by iOS on your device. Their contents never leave it.

Deleting your data

You can remove every thing and photo from inside the app with Settings → Erase everything. You can delete your account together with everything stored in it with Settings → Account → Delete account; this is immediate and permanent. If you would rather we did it for you, or you have any question about this policy, write to chochoapps@gmail.com and we will respond within 30 days.

Children

Kept is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that affects how your data is handled, the updated version will appear here and inside the app before the change takes effect.
